Hello, I'm Jarrod Robinson

This part of the website is about my personal life. There's not all that much to know about me, but I'll provide a brief history of my life so far.

I'm originally from Ontario, Canada and I moved to Nebraska to marry my wife, Drew. We met in the Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game, "World of Warcraft". Neither of us are frequent visitors of Azeroth anymore, but we still share video games as a hobby. We made the decision for me to move to Nebraska because I was actively employed as a web developer and would be able to continue my employment while working from home.

Before moving, I graduated from Georgian College's web animation and design program, which was later renamed "web design and programming". It was an expedited 2-year course that ran through the summer, so I completed it in a year and a half. During my time there I participated in a mandatory work co-op (basically an internship) which later became my first job in the web development industry, and one I would continue at until shortly after I moved to America.

I've had two jobs since leaving my Canadian job in search of more hours (it was a small company and they could only afford me part-time). My next job would provide me with lots of experience in fundamental web technologies like HTML, CSS, and some JavaScript, which would set me up to get my current job at Assurity Life Insurance where I primarily work with VueJS, Nuxt, and Craft CMS.

It was here that, in 2019, I was provided with the opportunity to go to a work conference in New York called Smashing Conference. My wife traveled with me, and we tried a vegan restaurant called Beyond Sushi. After trying their phenomenal food, some gears started turning in my head, and by the time we were flying home I had decided to go vegan and live my life in line with my morals. I've now been vegan since October 18, 2019, and I only wish I had made the change sooner.

Shortly after that, COVID-19 happened, and outside of work I've mostly been focusing on getting in shape and maintaining a positive mental state.
